Cyberculture has been large part of my life over the years. My first introduction to cyberculture was when I first got a computer when I was 8 years old. All I did was explore the internet and find ways to participate in it. I posted on forums and joined chat rooms initially. Later on I started playing lots of Real Time Strategy(RTS) games against people over the internet. Especially when I was playing RTS games I spent a lot of time out of my day playing them. It was fun playing against a variety of people.
Later, I started playing a Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG), Final Fantasy XI. I came to play it because I had been a long time fan of the Final Fantasy franchise. I Soon, got consumed in it. Playing it many hours out of the day. I had a lot of fun playing it and made many great friends. The game never got old because of the vast amount of content and the large amount of time it takes just to complete one task. I played Final Fantasy XI for about 4 years. I then switched to World of Warcraft because I had become upset with how people on Final Fantasy XI. World of Warcraft I didn't have very much fun playing. I played for only a month and then stopped. I did make a new group of friends, but it wasn't enough to keep playing. I then Switched to another mmorpg called Dungeons and Dragons Online. I enjoyed it a lot and made another online social circle. Yet, again I quit it. It lacked content and I had completed much of it fairly quickly. Now, I mainly stick to playing First Person Shooters(FPS) like Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4.
Ever since then any participation in cyberculture has been instant messaging and occasional posts on a forum. Cyberculture has affected my life positively. It has given me a chance to befriend many people from around the world. The negative aspects are that heavy involvement in cyberculture took a lot of my time. I slept less and went out less.
Cyberculture has never really held much expectations for me except for it to be a way to sink excess time, enjoy myself, and meet interesting people. If that is what I expected I think it has met my expectations adequately.

I never thought this, but you brought it up, cyberculture has consumed people to participate less in other activities. It's weird how after time you just get consumed in this stuff, by either playing games, participating in myspace or facebook, checking email, and chatting with friends. Cyberculture is the future. But good blog.
I agree with you on what you said. I think everyone first time messing around with the internet was around that age. I know when I began to use the internet I joined just about every chat room i could find. What kid dosen't like to play games I know I do and the internet is filled with games. Cyberculture has an effect on everyone.
